As a citizen you are active in different social spaces divided into three categories: the first is the family, the second is the workplace or school and the third is mainly considered to be volunteering. So JuvenALA Association organized together with County Library "G. T. Kirileanu" - Neamț a discussion evening with young people about local volunteering projects.
Before this event, I had no idea what volunteering really was. I always imagined it as an activity that only few can do, needing some special skills or knowledge to get you into different programs. But on the occasion of the "G.T. Kirileanu" Library Days, I discovered something completely different...
In a room filled to capacity with volunteers and spectators, each representative from his or her volunteer association presented projects the organization has done or proposed. Interact and Book Rangers, the library volunteers, stood out here. But it was the JuvenAla Association that caught my attention the most. Although they were only in front of the audience for a few minutes, they made their point understood and appreciated. They introduced us to an important project of theirs, which will continue this year - Clean Up Time. Later, the second edition took place, where the curious learned more about JuvenALA.
So my initial perception has changed. Volunteering is something that everyone who wants to change the environment and society for the better can do. All you need is: the will, with some ambition. It is very important for people to realize that only by one's own act can make a change; if all people would volunteer and fight for a good cause, then surely all the world's problems would disappear.
This is what I discovered during the Third Active Citizenship Space: I met determined, hard-working, friendly and cheerful people who through volunteering assert their strength and devotion to a noble purpose. -Raluca Miron
